I believe one of the most important aspects of learning is to be able to do it at one's own pace as well as environment. From personal experience, I know students can be embarrassed to admit that they do not understand something, especially in front of the entire class. The lesson continues, becoming more complicated, and the student is left clueless. With one on one teaching however, the student is able to comfortably control the speed of their lesson. When helping children with math, I like to teach current topics as well as the next. I believe that this way, the student gets a head start in class, and they are not only already familiar with what the teacher is introducing, but also increases confidence in their ability.
I have experience helping others with basic math, pre-algebra and beginning algebra. I graduated from the University of Kansas in 2010 with a BS in Biology, and my highest level of math course completed was Calculus II.
I am also fluent in Japanese.
