I love teaching, because it gives me the opportunity to reshape the future, inspiring life-long learners and leaders! My style of teaching involves collaborative learning strategies and interactive games and dialogue, creating an active, positive learning environment. I have a passion for proper communication -- (master's degree, University of Denver, 2006, communication/organizational leadership) speaking, writing, debating, presenting, persuading, and negotiating. This is a lifelong quest for me! I have worked with students of all ages and continue to do so, through substitute teaching at every level of education.
I have been teaching and coaching ESL and English for over 12 years. I am TESL certified (University of Colorado) and hold a second certificate in teaching business English (International House, San Diego, CA). I currently teach and coach at a few language schools. My specialty is IELTS, TOEFL, & TOEIC exam preparation and business English. I spent over 25 years in the business world in both New York and Denver, and taught business, leadership, management, marketing, and communication on Denver college campuses for over six years, recently.
My teaching philosophy includes the fact that I believe that all individuals have the ability to be leaders. Based on this, I have respect for each individual and their particular realm of influence. I believe that open dialogue can help to shape this sphere of influence in the individual, along with the ability to share it professionally to help shape our world.
With regard to different learning styles, my coaching sessions include a combination of visual stimulation, use of tactile objects, and open dialogue. I believe in mixing things up to keep sessions interesting. Since auditory learners acquire knowledge by hearing themselves speak to confirm what they learn, I include the opportunity for each individual to share and speak openly in my sessions. I would love to have the opportunity to work with you and share my passion for learning!
