I have an extensive science research background and am comfortable with most science subjects, except maybe physics. My expertise is in cell, molecular and developmental biology, though I take an integrated approach to unifying themes and concepts across various content areas. I'm not a big fan of memorizing or teaching to the test and believe students gain far more in understanding the "why" of what they are learning and in being able to apply what they have learned (higher order thinking skills). I enjoy helping students develop their creative and critical thinking skills to be the best strategic and analytical thinkers they can be!

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught elementary grade students (pre-K through grade 3) in both enrichment classes and through direct classroom instruction. My integrated approach to teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subject matter includes applying process, critical and creative thinking processes. By design this approach incorporates reading and writing skill development across domains in supporting learning through these critical developmental years. I am already qualified in K-6th science and math subjects.

Genetics

Understanding genetics is foundational to learning advanced subjects in cell, molecular and developmental biology and medicine. I taken advanced genetics, molecular biology and conducted research in developmental biology.

Public Speaking

I am an experienced in conducting speaking classes preK-college, as well as professional development and training for educators in both small and large group settings. I am skilled in creating engagement opportunities, change management and packaging - all essential skills for delivering meaningful and successful public speaking engagements.
