I have been teaching ESL/EFL since 1993, including TOEFL classes and Accent Reduction. I have taught students of many different ages, from many different countries and with many different abilities and levels of English. I have taught academic English to university students, basic English to new immigrants, conversation English to students in Japan, Costa Rica and Mexico and English, to adults working on the factory floor and to the CEO of the company. I teach all four areas of English--reading, writing, listening, speaking. My students have learned English and also enjoyed the classes. I use a student-centered, interactive approach to teach English and I customize the lessons to fit the student's needs, interests and learning styles. My students appreciate my understanding, patient, and empathic manner. My students know that I understand the trials and rewards of learning a new language and of adjusting to a new country.
I am also a licensed Elementary School teacher. I taught second grade for 6 years and home schooled my daughters until they went to high school. I am very experienced in teaching reading, phonics, spelling and writing to children and adults.
