Hello, I provide private and small group English tutoring for adult learners. We work together in a comfortable environment that affords students the opportunity to improve their English skills quickly and efficiently! In the 10 years that I have been teaching, I have helped students from many countries, from beginners to business executives. After a brief evaluation, each class is personalized to meet students’ specific needs for Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
Beginning English speaking students grow quickly in their knowledge of useful vocabulary, basic grammar and lots of opportunities to practice speaking.
In just six weeks, intermediate and advanced English speakers can improve fluency and pronunciation to become more comfortable speaking in business, social and academic settings. My accent reduction program helps students learn how the correct rhythm, stress on words, and intonation can yield more clear speech.
To improve reading and comprehension skills, we build on the basics of scanning for details, understanding the main ideas of a paragraph and much more.
Whether writing business letters or emails; essays; or writing notes to children’s teachers, I can help students produce a well written document they will be proud of.
I am a licensed adult education instructor with the state of Colorado, hold two ESL Certifications and a Bachelor of Business Degree and have been teaching adult learners in Denver since 2008.
Encouraging students to grow and learn is my passion! Let me help you be one of those students. Please email me for more information.
Understanding correct sentence structures, punctuation and how to combine phrases can create great essays and improve reading comprehension.
During my 10 years teaching English, I have helped many students become more confident with their English skills.
Sometimes just learning a few tips can make an ordinary writer into a superior one.
I have many proven techniques that can help students identify main ideas in a paragraph,
draw conclusions, find details. Another important part of reading is to develop skills to be able to read for comprehension, so that it can be FUN and not a chore.
I am a certified ESL instructor and hold a Colorado adult educator license. I began teaching ESL in 2004 in Georgia and, since 2008, I have provided English language instruction to adult students at various language schools in Denver. Currently, I am the lead teacher and instructor for a family resource center and privately, I provide English language services to the international community. I help students improve their skills in the four areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing by using the most current methods of instruction and creating a positive learning environment that helps them succeed and become proficient English speakers and writers.
I hold two ESL certifications. As an ESL specialist, I continually improve my skills through professional development training to bring the most current teaching methods to my students. Teaching English to adult non-native speakers requires not just knowledge of English. It also requires an awareness and sensitivity to the cultures of the countries of origin of each language learner. As a result, I strive to stay aware of the diversity that is present among cultures and incorporate that into my classes. In addition, adult learners come to class with prior knowledge that when acknowledged helps the student learn more quickly.
GRAMMAR CAN BE FUN!
Understanding grammar actually helps us to speak and write confidently. Rather than memorizing many grammar rules, we study how to use grammar to get the results we want in conversation and writing. Concepts are presented in a clear and easy to understand way.
Vocabulary is a list of words that is necessary to successfully speak any language. These words are the “bricks” that determine the size of our language “house”. For language learners, there is a variety of vocabulary options that include Industry specific vocabulary, every day vocabulary, and academic vocabulary. Choosing the vocabulary that meets the students’ needs is part of my curriculum.
As an ESL instructor for 10 years, I have provided writing instruction to students in the area of business communications, basic letter writing and developing essay writing skills. We study composition, purpose, organization, sentence structure and punctuation to create an effective written document.
