I hold two associates degrees (avionics systems technology, applied science) and have more than five years of training and tutoring experience. I only tutor subjects I have trained myself on or have passed with a B or better.
I have built a repertoire of teaching techniques, including:
* answering "Why do I have to learn this stuff, anyway? What good is it going to do me?"
* reviewing the core principles using real-world situations. Real world graphs have meaning; so should training graphs.
* encouraging a learning-by-doing process. I won't know you've learned until you've shown me you can do the process.
Why should you choose me? I tutor because I love to see people learn, and my enthusiasm for helping people click with the material is contagious.
Are your math skills suffering? I can be there from algebra to college-level calculus. Need to understand science? I will be there for physics and chemistry. Do you need to learn computer skills such as MS Office or introductory web development? I can do a lot to help you there, too.
Do you need help with test preparation? I've been training people for the SAT (Math: 720, Reading: 680, Writing: 700), SAT II subjects and the ACT for years. Talk to Toby Rose College Prep (a former employer) about what I'm capable of; you can find them on the Internet. I also have personal experience with the (old) ASVAB and can help you there.
I look forward to hearing from you!
