I recently graduated with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University. Here, I gained a deep understanding of anatomy
, kinesiology, as well as other classes specific to a physical therapy curriculum. Additionally, while I was enrolled at NU, I was selected by the faculty to serve as a tutor to 1st year students in the program in anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
I also have a Bachelors of Science
in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of Notre Dame. I have extensive coursework in math
and science, but also took Advanced Placement courses in History
in high school. Additionally, Notre Dame requires each student to obtain a broad liberal arts foundation regardless of major, which enables me to think critically about a variety of topics and present topics from different angles to students when necessary. Also, due to my math and science background, I will work with students on SAT
I worked for three years as a development engineer at Motorola. I left the company to return to school to enter the field of physical therapy.
I have done volunteer tutoring in the past for several different groups and paid volunteering in several levels of mathematics
. I try to help my students understand things for themselves, rather than trying to have them listen to another lecture. Therefore, I am likely to ask my students many questions to encourage them to think through each step or idea themselves. Then I'll help explain something if they get stuck. I believe this approach results in a better understanding and retention of the subject and hopefully will provide enhanced study skills
for the future!
