Hello! I'm known as Nan, Reading Teacher, Ms. W, and the Book Lady. I have a bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature and a master's in Creative Writing. My passion is reading. I believe it is the foundation upon which all future success is built. As a special education paraprofessional and as a poet-in-the-schools, I've worked with struggling readers and avid readers. My tool bag includes patience, genuine respect for the student, humor, workbooks, flash cards, and games that engage mind and body. I'm familiar with several different curricula including PCI, Fundations, and Wilson.

Good cooks are those who know how to read a recipe. They also know the ingredients well enough to take control of the recipe and make changes or improvise. My approach to phonics is similar to a good cook’s approach to a recipe. Special Needs

Dyslexia
