I have been teaching Spanish Language and Literature for 32 years. Of these, about 14 years have been at the high dchool level. I have taught all levels of Spanish at the High School level, including Spanish I, II, III, IV, V, AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature. I have also designed several courses for my school. One of these is a class for the native speaker of Spanish. Another is an advanced conversation class for students who want to continue in Spanish but not necessarily study advanced grammar structures.
Since every student has a different learning style, I like to use several teaching strategies in my teaching. These include, listening, reading, speaking and writing exercises for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners. I give outline notes to students and then check to be sure that they understand them and can apply them when they are at home on their own. My students can reach me by email for additional help when they have questions.
I am second oldest in a family of 12 children so, even though my formal teaching comprises 32 years, I have probably been teaching since my siblings were old enough to sit and listen. Teaching is not a job for me, it is a passion. I have had many educational opportunities and advantages in my life and believe that every child has the right to those opportunities and advantages.
