I have been teaching French since 2000 in Virginia and Colorado. During that time I have been certified in and taught high school, middle school, and elementary school French. I have also coached adults independently. I am certified to teach French and Spanish K-12 in Colorado, although in Spanish I feel most comfortable at the most novice level. In French, my skills are very strong and I can support students' needs at all levels.

I am bilingual, born in France and raised in France and the United States (I have dual citizenship). I travel annually to France to visit my parents, other relatives and friends, and to see things I have not yet seen. I am also a member of the Colorado Springs French Language Group.

I have used a variety of methods, though I like to use a very natural and practical approach, teaching students to communicate quickly on a variety of practical, everyday subjects.

Although my B.A. was in Business Administration, I had a great number of hours in upper level French. My master's from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, was in Foreign Language with a French concentration.

My teaching program can be designed specifically for the needs of the customer - work on trouble spots for students; practice with conversational French for any level; enrichment topics, etc. I also like to steer students to websites and other resources whereby they can further enrich their study and practice, beyond my work with them.

I love French and all things French or based in French culture, and it is my great joy to share this love and knowledge with my current students and with others I meet.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

My teaching experience has included teaching sections of ESL language development and literacy in both high school and middle school (three years).

French

Master's in Foreign Language (French) from George Mason University. In my 13th year of teaching French. Have taught all levels K-12 and have coached adults. I am a France-US dual national and travel every summer to France to visit family and friends, and to visit new places.

Spanish

My teaching certificate for 12 years was in French and Spanish, though I recently let the Spanish lapse for lack of use. While I taught Spanish 1 and 2 in high school and middle school for seven years, I feel that I would be most comfortable limiting my tutoring to academic middle school or high school Spanish 1. My Spanish training was two intensive summer institutes at Virginia Tech along with multiple grammar, composition and literature courses through various universities to obtain my Virginia and Colorado teaching certificates for Spanish K-12.
