I earned my Master's Degree in Education from Southwest Minnesota State (2005). In the graduate program we placed special emphasis ADD / ADHD.
More recently, I have gained over five years' experience working directly with ADD / ADHD students in a one-on-one tutoring environment (2007 through 2011).
In graduate school I worked as a strength and conditioning coach for three years. I used a training philosophy built around training intensity, progressive overload, interval training, periodization, and recovery allowance to generate excellent average strength gains among over 100 collegiate athletes. I understand the importance of diet, nutrition, and supplementation within the area of bodybuilding.
I was a strength and conditioning co-coordinator at St. Cloud State University for two years while serving as a graduate assistant football coach. I have applied the principles of periodization, progressive overload, recovery allowance and other fitness essentials. I know how to calculate target heart rate zone and am able to perform CPR.
I trained at the American Black Belt Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a blue belt, I have experience on beginner and mid-level striking, self-defense, and kata. I can help with fundamental drills and conditioning exercises, as well as sparring.
I have three years' experience working as a sales associate and manager at General Nutrition Center. I gained a great deal of experience working with nutritional balance, supplementation, and weight loss. To become a manager you must complete learning modules for a wide variety of supplements and I was able to do so.
Over the past seven years I have trained many students in development of study skills. This centers on organization and attention skills, with additional emphasis on avoiding distractions and developing a successful routine. By fostering a love of learning and a competitive mindset, students regularly were able to improve study skills and in turn, academic performance. I also have a Master's Degree in Education.
I served as Head Men's Tennis Coach at Upper Iowa University in 2001 and am able to teach the fundamental rules, strategies, and techniques involved in singles and doubles tennis.
Including, but not limited to, basic drills ranging from how to grip the racket and how to score a match; to more advanced techniques like court positioning, serve and return of serve, the proper conditioning drills, and the best equipment to advance skills as a competitive tennis player.
