As a former Associate Professor of Middle East History at the United States Air Force Academy, I had the privilege of teaching thousands of cadets in World, Middle East, and Military History. I graduated from the Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree and a major in International Affairs. I was on the Dean's List for seven of eight semesters. Prior to that I attended the Air Force Academy Prep School and increased my English and Math SAT scores by over 100 points. I can assist you in improving your SAT scores!

I have a graduate degree in National Security Affairs and Middle East Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School. I was a Distinguished Graduate. I also took a year of Arabic at the Defense Language Institute.

My exceptional teaching and mentoring at the Air Force Academy earned me the Outstanding Educator Award for the Academy's Department of History and Humanities Division. I was runner-up for the Outstanding Educator Award for the entire Academy faculty. I mentored hundreds of cadets and taught the Academy's How-to-Study program.

I like learning to be fun and will work with you to achieve your goals. I firmly believe that good writing is the key to a successful career regardless of your chosen profession. I will work with you to be a better writer. I also want you to be a critical thinker and will challenge you to think critcally about a wide range of issues regardless of the topic--but it will be fun!

I also served as the Associate Director of Admissions at the Air Force Academy and can provide advice and assistance for applying to high quality colleges and getting a scholarship. One of my best recommendations for tutoring is my daughter who went to a quality college, was selected for her college's Hall of Fame, and earned a Fulbright Scholarship.

Study Skills

I have successfully tutored students for the SAT and ACT. More importantly, I was one of the founders of the How-to-Study program at the US Air Force Academy back in 1980. Many of the tips developed then are still being used at the Academy today. Over the course of 30 years of working at the Academy, both in and out of the classroom, I have tutored hundreds of cadets on how to study. Most recently, I volunteered at the Academy in its writing center.

Public Speaking

At the Air Force Academy, I was selected the Outstanding Military Educator in the Department of History and the Humanities Division.I was the first runner-up for the Outstanding Educator Award at the Academy on a staff of over 500 instructors. I was the Deputy Director of Admissions at the USAF Academy and have helped hundreds of students to apply to the Academy and other colleges.

I have also counseled hundreds of students in how-to-study programs and humanities and social science subjects. I have provided career counseling to hundreds of subordinates who have worked for me over my 28-year AF career.

AFOQT

I have successfully assisted numerous students in preparing for the ACT and SAT including those applying to attend the USAF Academy. I spent 28 years in the Air Force and am very familiar with the materials on the AFOQT and ASVAB tests--both of which are much easier than the SAT and ACT. I have also worked at the Air Force Academy in and out of the classroom for over 2o years. I am more than qualified to assist students on both of these tests.

Writing

I am an excellent writer and teacher.

I was the speech writer for a four star general. I authored all his speeches and published articles.

I have graded thousands of papers while teaching history and English at the USAF Academy. Plus I have authored numerous articles while teaching.
