Are you ready to Learn Spanish! I hope so! I sure am ready to teach you. For me Spanish was a gateway to starting to travel and experience other cultures. After taking a few years of French, a couple years of Latin, and four years of Spanish in High School: off to college I went to get my degree in Spanish and Communication Studies from Bloomsburg University.
Along the way I worked with the Migrant Worker Healthcare program for Keystone Health centers. After working for Keystone Health as a medical translator for a couple years, I worked for the Migrant Education Program during my last year at college. This involved giving the children of the migrant workers an opportunity to learn some English.
For my Study Abroad I went to Valladolid, Spain Sophomore year where I lived with a host family and started to teach a 15 year old gypsy boy how to read. After my adventure in Spain, I returned to my studies and continued to expand my Spanish portfolio. While teaching Spanish 1 and 2 to home school children, I began to tutor at Bloomsburg. At the University's Student Services Center, I used my conversational skills to help prepare other students for their study abroad programs.
For my internship I went to San Juan, Puerto Rico to work as a volunteer in an orphanage. There I helped with homework assignments, tutored individual students, and organized after school activities. I also spent a lot of time helping the social worker by taking calls and helping manager her case files.
Currently I am teaching Spanish in the Harrison School District.
