Hi! I'm James, and I have a love for mathematics. For two years, I was a mathematics tutor at Clackamas Community College. During that time I tutored many different types of students, and helped them become confident in the skills they obtained in pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.

I believe that mathematics is a valuable and necessary skill that people are afraid of, neglect or find boring. I want to show people the math can be tangible, interesting, and even fun. My goal is to take the mystery out of math for you.

Currently, I am completing my Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Portland State University. My degree highlights the importance of mathematics in our lives. I want students to understand that math has valuable applications for us.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been a mathematics tutor for over 2 years. During that time I helped people with Algebra 1 many times. As a Mechanical Engineering student I have used Algebra 1 almost everyday since it is such a foundation for all types of math, science and engineering fields. Algebra 1 is a exciting first step into the wondrous world of mathematics.

I tutored Algebra 2 for over two years at Clackamas Community College. Over that period of time I was asked to lead several different study groups focused on Algebra 2. As an engineering student, I understand the need of mathematics in our everyday lives. I can help people bridge the gap to understanding Algebra 2.

Elementary mathematics is incredibly important because it is the foundation that all the different types of math rest on. I have tutored mathematics for several years and as a teacher's assistant I had to explain this foundation many times. Because of this, Elementary mathematics is one of my strongest skills in the area of math.

Geometry is an important field of mathematics. I learned to not just do geometry but to love it when I was a tutor and teacher's assistant during my early college studies. I have tutored students in geometry for more then two years, which has not diminished my enjoyment in this aspect of mathematics in any regard.

I have been a mathematics tutor for over 2 years. During that time I helped people with prealgebra many times. As a Mechanical Engineering student I have used prealgebra almost everyday since it is such a foundation for all types of math, science and engineering fields. I was a teachers assistant at Clackamas Community College for prealgebra where I assisted in teaching and helping the students understand the techniques of mathematics.

Hi Ximena, First there are two relationships/equations needed in this problem. N is 5 (#of cycles) 1) C=π*D where C is the circumference π is pi (3.14) D is diameter of the wheel 2)...

The equation for the volume of a cylinder is: V=π*r2*h Given: V= 9503.3ft^3 and d=22ft Find: h Solution: d=2r so r=d/2 r=22/2 r=11ft 9503.3= pi*(11)^2*h 9503.3/(pi*(11)^2=h h=25ft
