As a certified teacher, I have intimate knowledge of kindergarten through 12th grade curriculum. Communication is my passion, and education is the arena where I practice it. I thrive on the challenge of taking complex concepts and communicating them successfully to any age level through any medium.

While I am comfortable and confident with any subject K-12, I specialize in English. When teaching sixth grade and tutoring multiple grade levels in writing, I developed flawless grammar and honed my proofreading skills. I have taken multiple students from failing major exams to passing them with excellent scores. Most notably, I took an eighth grader who had failed entrance exams to an elite private school and helped them pass their test with ease.

I believe in helping people discover information holistically, and I have experience working with multiple learning types including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADD. I am excited to see how I can help you or someone you love achieve their potential.

ADD/ADHD

I am qualified to tutor ADD/ADHD as I have my B.A. in education. We were taught multiple strategies to help students with ADD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia. I tutored multiple students with this learning challenges. In teaching full-time, I also had multiple students with ADD/ADHD.

Dyslexia

I have my B.A. in education, and we took multiple courses where we practiced identifying dyslexia, modifying lessons for dyslexia and working with children with dyslexia to help them succeed instead of feel defeated. Since completing my degree, I have worked with many dyslexics and have had positive results with all of them.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified teacher in K-8th grade, and I taught all subjects in sixth grade at a private school. My degree is a B.A. in elementary education from Western Governors University. I have taught, tutored, and subbed in multiple schools in Oregon and Colorado.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking is a skill I have practiced and honed over years of college speech and debate where I won numerous awards. I have also presented speeches for ASL classes, been requested by the college president to speak to financial supporters, and tutored and taught elementary and middle school students. I am passionate about effective communication and believe it can open many opportunities.

Sign Language

I took four years of American Sign Language in college. It counted as my foreign language in order to graduate with a B.A. I have tutored ASL, taught classes, and gone to deaf events.

Study Skills

In order to graduate with a B.A. in education, we had to take multiple courses in how to study and teach other to study. Not only did we learn study tips for students in general, but we learned about different learning styles and how to help them succeed on exams and tests. I have shown excellent study skills in college as I graduated with honors.
