In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

My degree from University of Oregon is in Art. I taught K-8 Art and was certified in the State of Colorado.

English

I began teaching English in 1989 in Japan for a private English teaching company. I spent 2 years teaching ESL/ESOL for a high school in Colorado, and spent many years teaching for a private English teaching corporation in Colorado.

ESL/ESOL

I began teaching English as a Foreign Language in 1989 in Japan for a private English teaching company-GEOS Corp. I was then promoted to be a Teacher/Trainer. I spent 2 years teaching ESL/ESOL at Littleton High School in Colorado, and spent many years teaching for English Language Services Corp. in Denver, Colorado.

Grammar

I have been teaching English Grammar to students both in Japan and in Denver, Colorado. Currently, I work for an ELS language service. We prepare students for Universities and Colleges in the United States.

Painting

My degree in Architecture and Allied Arts is from the University of Oregon. I studied painting and printmaking. My watercolors have been on display twice in Tokyo, Japan. I have experience in teaching K-8 Art for 5 years. I have taught children from Kindergarten to 8th grade many wonderful painting projects and introduced them to many artists.

Writing

I have been teaching writing in English since 1989. I taught writing in Japan for 4 years and was then promoted to teacher/trainer for the same company. In Colorado, I began teaching writing in 2000 for an ELS language service.
