I have taught ESL for many years in Japan, Taiwan and China. I have experience teaching in schools, language institutes and to private students one-on-one, with students of all ages. I'm happy to adjust my teaching style and curriculum to meet your needs. My time is flexible.
I like making study fun, so let's give it a try! Just give me a call.
Because I lived in Japan for more than 20 years I learned the language fluently, and so I also have experience teaching Japanese. I would love to teach you the Japanese language, as well as all about the culture and the country, etc.
I have also home-schooled my own children and have experience teaching them from elementary through high-school, so if you have need of a tutor for your children, please call me! Thank you!

I have been studying with Debbie for about 3 weeks now and she is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She's very good at helping you understand the meaning of the words and pronunciation. She's also very good at breaking the words down so there easier to understand. I would recommend Debbie to anyone who wants to learn Japanese.
Debbie is very knowledgeable about not just the Japanese language, but also Japanese culture. I feel very comfortable and positive about picking up Japanese. I feel that her prior experience with previous students gives her an added insight on how to confront the issues of teaching and conveying the language. I am very hopeful for the future lessons.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a Christian missionary for 30 years in Japan, Taiwan and China. I have studied the Bible extensively on my own as well as by taking courses with the Christian Vocational College. I have taught Bible classes on numerous occasions throughout the years to children as well as adults, with good results.
Besides being an English teacher for many years, I home-schooled my two children, (who are now in their 20's). Living in Asia for many years, I not only home-schooled my own children in all general subjects from kindergarten to 12th grade, but I helped educate the children of other staff members in the NGO I was working in. I believe due to these reasons I am qualified.
I have taken TEFL courses, as well as in-house CELTA and DELTA style training courses at a premier Language Institute I worked at in Beijing, China.
I lived in Japan for 28 years and learned the language fluently while there. I've taught Japanese to children, young people and professionals alike. I love teaching and have taught not only Japanese, but English as a second language, for more than 20 years in Universities, High Schools, Junior High, Elementary schools and to private students one-on-one. I love teaching and have a rich experience of teaching in a variety of situations and countries and can adapt my teaching style and material to meet the student's needs and interests.
As an ESL teacher for more than 20 years I frequently had to teach my students the proper usage of English grammar. I've taught elementary school age children English which required basic grammar skills. I have also taught Junior High, High School and adult English, during which times I also needed to explain, teach and drill the students on English grammar.
In Japan, Taiwan and China I regularly engaged in giving motivational talks to groups of young people and also to volunteers of various NGOs. In China as an ESL teacher I would give lectures and talks to large group classes (over 40 students per class)on a daily basis on a variety of subjects. I enjoy public speaking very much and consider it one of my skills.
In China I have taught courses on public speaking and giving presentations, to businessmen and women.
