Hi, my name is Ellen and I just completed my coursework at CU - Boulder and will be walking in the May graduation ceremony. I have already taken the MCAT and I am applying to medical schools in the summer of 2013. My favorite and most experienced subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Writing and Psychology. I also am an experienced standardized test-taker and study enthusiast who would love to help others exceed in their academic goals, whether that be subject material, test preparation or general study skills.

At CU I was a Psychology major and took all required Pre-med college courses (biology, general chemistry, physics, organic chemistry, biochemistry). In my time at University of Colorado I participated on the Women's D1 volleyball team, and after injury moved to a student assistant role. Through my volleyball career, I have gained the opportunity to work with kids of all ages. I hope to be able to share my passion for school and learning as well as any study techniques I have gathered throughout my schooling!

Biology

I am applying to med school in the summer of 2013, so I have had vast experience with all fields of biology. In high school I took AP Biology and received a 5 on the exam. In college I have taken molecular/cellular biology and lab, genetics and genetics lab, and biochemistry. I also have taken and the MCAT and studied for and done well on the Biological Sciences section of the test.

Chemistry

I am applying to medical school in the summer of 2013, so I have had vast experience with many fields of chemistry. In college I have taken General Chemistry 1 and 2 with lab, Biochemistry, and Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 with lab. I also took and did well on the MCAT and therefore spent time studying for the Physical Sciences (which includes Chemistry) section of the test.

Grammar

I took honors English and grammar classes throughout my secondary education, as well as grew up learning English from a woman who had learned English in school (as a second language) in a foreign country and therefore heavily emphasized grammar. I have experience in most forms of writing, with most of my experience in persuasive, informational (expository), and scientific writing/research papers. I received an A in every english and writing class I took in college. In high school I took the Language and Composition AP exam and received a 5. On the ACT I received a 12/12 for the essay section, and received a score of R on a scale of J-T on the MCAT writing section.

Government & Politics

Almost all of my college electives were taken in Government and Politics, I was one class short of receiving a minor, and I received a grade of A/A- in all Political Science courses. I took the AP Government and Politics class in high school and received a 5 on the test, and in college I have taken Comparative Politics, State Government, American Congress, and Political Psychology.

Psychology

As a psychology major, I have extensive knowledge of most aspects of psychology- introductory, social, cognitive, biological/neuroscience, personality, psychopathology, and history of psychology.

ACT Reading

I scored in the 95th percentile on the ACT, and have recent standardized test taking experience succeeding on the MCAT. I am experienced in many methods of studying and preparing for standardized tests and would love the opportunity to help you succeed on your exams as well.

I am applying to medical school in the summer of 2013, so I have had vast experience with many fields of chemistry. The MCAT has a Biological Sciences section which is Biology and Organic Chemistry, in which I received a top score.
