Hello! My name is Meghan and I am a political science and history major with a minor in philosophy. I am a second semester sophomore at the University of Colorado at Boulder although I have the credits to be a Junior and am only a few credits shy of finishing my history major.

I can help with lower levels in practically any subject. In higher levels I can teach effectively in most while thoroughly in history, social studies, government, philosophy, English, and the like. I excelled in subjects such as trigonometry, statistics, algebra, geometry, geology, earth/natural sciences, and French. However, my best feature as a tutor is my adept ability to help others learn, not simply give them the answers, through fun, engaging, and creative lessons.

I have been a k-12 teacher's daughter all my life and, as she is amazing, she has imparted on me how to teach all levels, all my life. Therefore, I go through life helping others learn often without realizing it until after we are done. I have a passion for helping students get to the tough answers through themselves so they feel confident and ready to tackle more. I want to set kids and teens up for success in thinking and analyzing through confidence and skills, not make them dependent on a tutor all their lives. I am patient have skills with childcare and tutoring and am highly effective and compassionate. I prefer to work with kindergarten to tenth grade.

Although I may not have professional experience I have 19 years of avid learning under my belt, and almost as many of helping others engage and learn about the world around them. I have been babysitting and doing daycare since I was thirteen and helped children I took care of their learning and helped with their homework. My passion, patience, and understanding outweigh many others' experience.

American History

As a major in history I have an intense passion for the subject and know how to teach it with flare and depth. I will help your student(s) develop a love of the material due to truly teaching the subject rather than just feeding rote memorization into their minds. History is a living breathing field and I would love to introduce this to your students.

Biology

Biology should never be boring. However for most students it is, and it is often far more challenging due to teachers not understanding learning styles or children's needs. No child is incapable of loving and learning biology. It is truly a living subject that is fascinating and I would love to help your student on an individual basis on exploration of this subject.

Reading

Reading is fundamental to every subject. But if not taught right, with patience, skill, and imagination to excite children, they will never learn to their best ability. I love to teach children, "pre"teens, and teenagers reading, reading comprehension, vocabulary and more. I would love to help your children reach their best abilities.

Writing

Writing is a complicated process to master. No student can truly go it alone. I have been a talented writer since I was nine, nevertheless, my AP European History and AP English Language and Composition teachers drilled better writing into me. ACT Reading

Reading has been taught to most students for years. However, reading in concentration with analysis and content understanding has not been. Also, many students struggle with knowing which of all the answers is the best. Due to my own experience with the ACT and reading I know how to teach students test and reading skills to help them comprehend content faster and do better on tests.

ACT English

ACT English is a difficult item to prepare for. I achieved a high score without preparation due to my experience in writing and French grammar, which helped me understand English grammar. However, most kids need intensive help (just as I received my whole life from my mother) due to the complicated nature of being tested on and truly understanding a subject. I know how to make English interactive and fun and how to score well on the ACT test. I want to help your students with the same.

Study Skills

As the daughter of a k-12 teacher I have had my own private tutor for years. She has successfully taught me how to study and how to teach study skills. She has helped me understand styles of learning and how that relates to study skills. I teach this every time I tutor as I hope to foster independent learning and study skills.

Public Speaking

I have been acting since I was 3 years old am accustomed to public speaking. I did acting 8th-12th grade. As well as speech and debate 9-12 and am going to try out for mock trial soon. I have confidence and have been taught how to speak by geniuses therefore I can do it as well.

Sociology

I have taken sociology of gender as a college student in a 200 level class. As a history major many articles we study are often on the basis of sociology and by sociologists. I understand the basic premises and am a fast learner in the subject.

Social Studies

I am major in history and political science. Because of these I must also be familiar with anthropology culture and geography. I am very skilled at teaching these and have much education in them. These are the subjects of social studies within k-12 education.
