I have believed in music as a great discipline, a great source of joy, a wonderful way for awakening the mind and the heart, a perfect training for developing control and coordination. This is why I believe that music is an essential subject for every student who wishes to fulfill their potential in whatever field they may end up specializing in. My life's experience in many spheres have given me practical tools in finding direct and enjoyable ways of teaching musical ski. I believe that good teaching must cater to the individual case. It should go from the known to the unknown and the simple to the complex. I have taught piano and singing for over 20 years, trained singers and musicians in groups and one on one. I have directed choirs, operas and musicals. I am linguistically flexible being bilingual Arabic/English and well versed in German, French and Italian. I am specialized in the teaching of diction and the International Phonetic Alphabet, a very useful pronunciation tool for all. I am deeply interested in diversity and cultural awareness.
Real learning is a process between the teacher and the student, never a one way process. True progress can only be the result of exchange of ideas, the setting of attainable goals and the vigilant and constant attention to every detail that arises. I have learned greatly from my students and always hope to improve my skill in imparting knowledge based on this willingness to listen and learn from my students. By setting this example I find that my students are willing to be open to suggestion, willing to consider alternatives, be prepared for the practical world we hope to prepare them for.
In addition to a performing career I deeply love the art of teaching and enjoy the special pleasure of seeing a young mind evolve and mature with my help. The acquiring of musical skill touches all aspects of growth and development. This is why I have dedicated my life to this richly rewarding field.
