I currently teach Japanese Conversation and English Composition to adults through the community colleges and BVSD Lifelong Learning. I've worked as a Japanese-English Interpreter and also written and published several how-to books in English.

My first language is Japanese but I quickly learned English when I went to school here in my hometown of Boulder. My parents immigrated here from Japan and I've also spent a lot of time overseas. 10 years in Japan (which includes working for a Japanese company, teaching Japanese and tutoring Japanese students), 1 year in Indonesia, 1 year in Romania, and 6 months in the Netherlands. I love travel, learning (I've got my Master's degree in International Affairs), reading and writing, and teaching. Language and culture are fascinating for me and I enjoy sharing my passion with students.

I have worked as a correspondent for a newspaper, wrote several how-to books and am currently teaching basic English composition at a community college. I try to help with practical, immediate solutions and critical thinking skills, rather than teach grammar and vocabulary.

I am fluent in Japanese and experienced in teaching English speakers. I've lived and worked in Japan for 10 years, currently teach at FRCC, and am enrolled in a training program for Japanese language teachers administered by the American Association of Teachers of Japanese. I am familiar with Yokoso.
