I began my university studies at Butler University, Indianapolis, IN. I transferred to and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO, in 1980 with a BA in biological Sciences and received my teaching certification in 1981 (later changed to a license). During the past 30 years, I have taught Biology, Physical Science, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, Life Science, Anatomy, Botany, and Pre-algebra. I maintained my license by attending classes and seminars at: Ball State U. (Muncie, IN), UNC-Greeley (CO), University of Wyoming (Laramie, WY), UNM-Albuquerque (NM), CU-Boulder (CO), CSU-Fort Collins (CO), and Colorado School of Mines (Golden, CO). I prefer teaching with as many visuals and hands-on activities as possible. I focus on vocabulary building and word origins to help students understand science better. I also try to help students visualize patterns that exist in science and help them see how these patterns apply to everyday life.
