Hello, I'm a recent college graduate who has always enjoyed helping students and friends with their coursework. When I first started college I struggled with many technical concepts. I believe this gives me the ability to relate to students who are also having difficulty.
My approach to teaching is a little different than I was taught in school. If the student isn't grasping an idea, I'll invent several ways of explaining it until the idea becomes clear. At times, I like to just start working examples until a pattern emerges (i.e., the relationship between sides of a triangle). This is often less confusing than starting off with a foreign looking equation. In these examples I use pictures or analogies to make the explanation as visual as possible.
A little background about myself: I got my bachelor of science in mechanical engineering in 2009 and my master of science in mechanical engineering in 2012. During my time in college I helped fellow students and friends with technical coursework. I also worked as a math and physics tutor at Arapahoe Community College in 2009. I currently work part-time in the wind and solar industry.
