I have been in education for over 30 years, and still like seeing students reach their full educational potential. I have had previous tutoring experience, as well as working in elementary positions. I also have worked as a liaison for students who have special education needs.

I currently work as a Student Services Coordinator for an At-Risk Douglas County Charter School. I believe that helping students to use their various styles of learning using Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence helps children to retain information as well as supporting the areas where they might struggle with activities that are fun and rewarding.

Vocabulary

I am very good at vocabulary and definitions. I am avid about using a dictionary and secondary sources for word definitions and usage of words.

Phonics

I retired 8 years ago teaching a K-1 class in which all of my students were reading at above grade level. My previous years of teaching instruction using Making Meaning, DRA, and other progressive reading and phonemic and phonic awareness programs allowed me to have several opportunities in teaching and tutoring both children and adults in homes and after school programs.

Study Skills

I feel more than competent in teaching study skills having acquired three degrees. I have learned the Master Student concept of study skills in such a way, that it provided me the opportunity to graduate at the top of my class.

Public Speaking

I currently work as K-12,School Dean where I have continuous opportunities in both training teachers, mentors, parents and volunteers. My Communication degree from the University of Denver has provided me several wonderful experiences in public speaking engagements, and I have also had the privilege of instructing and presenting at the college level.

Social Studies

My Master degree in Multicultural Studies as well as my professional experience as a teachers working with students in a K12 setting has allowed me to develop the necessary skills in tutoring social studies content areas.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
