Math & Science Tutoring with Piano Lessons.
For Math, I am confident up to, but not including, Differential Equations.
In Science, I am confident in basic motion equations including Kinetic and Potential Energy. I have a BSEE so can address most of the subjects covered in Electrical Engineering curriculum. I am also confident to teach computer science concepts including algorithms, data structures, traditional languages as well as some web-based programming concepts.
I am confident to teach beginning Piano to young students. Along with my high school Diploma, I received a diploma from the National Guild of Piano Teachers when I graduated from high school. I have given private piano lessons, focusing on scales and their associated chords as taught in what I consider to be the traditional manner. I work closely with teaching to read music in the traditional musical notation with both a treble clef and a bass clef. I can address most music theory concepts without reference materials and can resolve anything else with reference materials. I also focus on hand position with important tips best learned at an early age with adjustments as the hands develop.
I am a chess player and can give instruction regarding openings and positional theory.
I know math quite well and have used it all of my adult life. I took and passed the WyzAnt ACT Math test cold with no review, so I am confident that I can address anything without needing time to brush up on the concepts.
I have been using the concepts and principles of algebra all of my adult life and am confident that I can handle any issue that comes up in the course of tutoring for the subject.
I started out programming in APL and FORTRAN while completing my BSEE. I was introduced to C in the mid 1980's and started using it to complete programming assignments in the 1990's.
I have programmed in C for many years now. I used the language to maintain software written in C and C++.
While I was working as an Electrical Engineer, I started taking computer science classes until I had completed the core courses and was admitted into graduate school for a masters degree in computer science. I did not complete the masters program but consider myself to have a substantial grasp of computer science concepts including but not limited to algorithms, data structures, programming languages, compiler design, graphic programming, and object oriented programming.
I am confident in all subjects covered by the GED exam. I passed the WyzAnt GED test and have a college degree, so I feel I can tutor in each subject of the GED Exam.
I passed the GRE while I was a graduate student more than 10 years back. Now I have passed the WyzAnt GRE test, so am ready to help anyone with it.
I have a BSEE. This degree included a solid understanding of boolean logic. Boolean logic included the process of building Karnaugh Maps and using DeMorgans Laws to simplify (or manipulate) logic expressions.
I have given piano lessons. My training was from 1966-1976, ten years of piano lessons and I received a diploma from the National Association of Piano Teachers when I graduated from high school. I have played all my life and focus on traditional scales and appropriate pieces.
