ACT English
In preparing students for the ACT's English test, I strive to bolster the student's punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure skills while also counseling them for organization and style. In addition, I strive to help students with time management and testing strategies specific to the ACT.
ACT Math
For four years I tutored math as an undergraduate. I strive to communicate an understanding of mathematical concepts which of course are critical for the ACT math portion. However, I also strive to communicate to students the importance of calm and quick thinking, as well as many test taking techniques that are unique to the ACT.
ACT Reading
In my efforts to prepare students for the reading section of the ACT, I strive to show students methods for quickly, calmly, and actively reading the chosen passages.
Algebra 1
For four years I tutored math as an undergraduate. I have always enjoyed math and my time as a tutor allowed me to develop new and better ways of communicating mathematical ideas and concepts. I also love to see where math is used in the real world!
Algebra 2
I tutored math from pre-algebra to calculus during my four years as an undergraduate. In addition to communicating fundamental concepts of Algebra 2, I strive to show how Algebra 2 is important and relevant to everyday life.
American History
I thoroughly enjoy reading, studying, teaching, and tutoring American history. I am currently enrolled at University of Colorado at Denver as a graduate student working towards my Master's Degree in history. I love to share my knowledge of and enthusiasm for history with those around me!
Baseball
Baseball has always been my favorite sport and I played baseball through my freshmen year in high school. I love helping coach younger kids in the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, and throwing while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Bible Studies
I have been reading and studying the Bible my entire life. Additionally, my undergraduate studies included numerous Bible classes including Old and New Testament History and Geography; Evidences; Old Testament Poetry (Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes); as well as classes on The Book of Job; John; Romans, I and II Corinthians, Galations, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, I and II Timothy, Philemon, Hebrews, James I and II Peter, I, II and III John.
Elementary Science
I thoroughly enjoy teaching young children because of their hunger for knowledge. I strive to teach children about elementary science by using examples from the world around them.
English
I have thoroughly enjoy reading since an early age. Some of my favorite authors are Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and C.S. Lewis. I also thoroughly enjoy writing. I strive to help students communicate their ideas more clearly, confidently, and concisely in writing. In reading I strive to help students think critically and analytically about the texts they encounter.
GED
I believe that a well-rounded general education is important regardless of one's ambition in life. I strive to tutor and inspire students to become proficient in general education so they can fulfill their dreams for continuing their education or beginning a career!
General Music
I have been reading music since I first learned to play the clarinet in fifth grade. I continued my studies in music, playing the oboe from sixth grade through college. While in college I also began singing. I performed with the Chamber Choir and Chorus groups and received private voice lessons. As part of my undergraduate studies I took four semesters of music history.
Geography
I thoroughly enjoy reading about, learning about geography as well as sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm of the subject with those around me!
Geometry
Since I took Geometry in high school, it has been my favorite part of math. I thoroughly enjoyed proofs and theorems, as well as all the trigonometry involved. Even during my four years as a math tutor, geometry was still my favorite subject to help students with. While teaching students the fundamentals of geometry, I also strive to show them how it is logical and very easy to see in everyday life!
Grammar
I write extensively for my schoolwork and always strive to present work free of grammatical errors. I stress to students that practicing correct grammar is not only essentially in writing for school, but a fantastic way to stand out as a confident and accomplished communicator.
Literature
From an early age, I have always been an avid reader and that passion continues to this day! While in school, history book consume much of my reading time, however; I thoroughly enjoy most literature. My favorite authors are Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and C.S. Lewis.

Music History
I thoroughly enjoy music of all types and I am a firm believer that an understanding of music history can only enhance one's musical experience (whether listening, playing, etc.). I studied Music History while an undergraduate and would love to share my passion and knowledge with others.
Oboe
I played the Oboe from 6th grade through my senior year in college. I took private lessons from sixth grade through high school and received a scholarship to play in college.
Prealgebra
I tutored math of all levels for four years as an undergraduate. I believe prealgebra students should understand prealgebra techniques and practices, as well as its importance as a building block for other mathematical ideas. I also strive to demonstrate the relevance of prealgebra to everyday life.
Precalculus
I tutored math as an undergraduate for four years. I try and help students understand basic techniques and concepts from multiple points of view. I also strive to show precalculus' relevance to the world students see every day!
Proofreading
My school work requires me to write papers nearly weekly; therefore, I have developed strategies for quickly and thoroughly proofreading papers.
Public Speaking
In both college and high school I thoroughly enjoyed the public speaking classes I took. While some people may never achieve complete comfort when it comes to public speaking, I strive to teach students to clearly and confidently communicate their ideas regardless of their fears.
Reading
From an early age, I have always been an avid reader and that passion continues to this day! I believe reading is helpful for writing, vocabulary, spelling, and verbal communications. I would love to share my passion for reading with others!
Social Studies
I believe that social studies are vastly important for children to understand their role as a member of a city, country, state, and the world. I am currently enrolled at University of Colorado at Denver studying history. During my graduate studies I have taken both American and European history classes. I love sharing my knowledge of history and geography with others.
Softball
I grew up playing baseball and softball. I have played softball in both Men's and Co-Ed leagues for the past five years at least two nights a week. I would love to share my knowledge and love for the sport with young players!
Study Skills
Throughout my college career as an undergraduate and graduate student, I have learned that study skills are extremely important to the success of every student. While these skills are vastly important, each student's specific needs are unique. I strive to instill students with study skills specific to their strengths that will help them in studying many different subjects.
Vocabulary
As a history student I read and write a lot and I believe that reading and writing are excellent ways to improve vocabulary. Learning new words has always been fun for me!
Voice (Music)
In addition to singing in the Chorus and Chamber Choir for four years, I took four years of private music lessons. I am interested in helping beginning voice students.
Writing
I thoroughly enjoy writing, especially for history. After numerous papers during undergraduate and graduates studies, I am still perfecting my techniques. I would love to share techniques for more powerful, concise writing.
