I am a father to a handsome baby boy born February 2012. I am also a husband to his beautiful mother. I love learning myself, but also love helping people learn. My hobbies include reading, sports (both playing and watching), music, history, and spending time with my family!
As an undergraduate at Florida College (Tampa, FL), I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, focusing on music, history, and biblical studies.
My studies in music included playing the oboe in the Wind Ensemble, singing in the Chorus and Chamber Choir, as well as taking private voice lessons. I have played the oboe in band for eleven years, taking private lessons for 8 of those years. I began singing with the Chamber Choir and Chorus during my first and second college semesters, respectively. Private voice lessons were also part of my music education, which I began during my first semester. Additionally, I took four semesters of music history classes. These classes focused on music history from pre-baroque through the twentieth century, with one semester dedicated to the study of American music history.
After attending church while growing up in Denver, Colorado, I entered college with a solid base of biblical knowledge. While at Florida College, I was privileged to earn college credit for courses covering most of the books in both the Old and New testaments, as well as surveys of Old Testament history and geography, all of which bolstered my knowledge base.
Another facet of my studies was history, with a focus on American history. I took two survey classes of American history which covered pre-history to the present. My other studies included courses focusing on the Civil War, World Wars (from both the American and European perspectives), and American intellectual history.
While attending Florida College, I worked tutoring math in the Florida College Math Lab. I tutored algebra, college algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus. I was head of the math lab during my junior and senior years, meaning in addition to tutoring all levels of math, I was in charge of scheduling other tutors.
Since returning to Colorado, I have privately tutored church friends in math and history. I am currently working towards my master's degree at the University of Colorado at Denver, focusing on the American West and public history.
