Hello, my name is Joy, and I have been formally educated in Colorado. I currently hold a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology. I received my Associates of Arts (A.A.) degree from AIMS Community College in Colorado in 1998, and my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from CU-Boulder in 2004. In 2008, I earned my Master's (M.A.) from the University of the Rockies in Colorado Springs. I completed my education in 2010 with a Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D., also from University of the Rockies).
I am very good at explaining concepts to those who want to learn. I use a Socratic style of teaching, which means I ask you questions about a subject or topic to try and get you to think before going into more in-depth answers. This style enhances critical thinking skills, which empowers you to be more in command of the subject matter.
Psychology is my passion, but I am additionally quite good with helping students with research and writing skills, as psychologists utilize writing as a part of their daily business. I can help you with building better study habits, a wider vocabulary, and with expanding your English language skills.
I am friendly, warm, patient, and I care about students, no matter your age or background. I am a reliable person, and I understand tutoring is a two-way street. I hope we will be able to work well together!
