Getting tutoring in PSAT, ACT, and SAT is the perfect start to getting your child ready for college. AND, did you know that 53.6% of bachelor's degree-holders under the age of 25 were jobless or underemployed in 2011.*

So while getting top scores in MATH, ENGLISH, READING and SCIENCE is a great start, the college admissions are becoming increasingly competitive and selective as the Common Application has ballooned the number of applicants.

My mission is to support your family at every stage of the college application process. I apply deep insights I have gained over the past several years in this new College Application process and couple that with skills honed over a 20+ career in the human resource profession. I involve and motivate your child to become the driving force in the process and empower them to make good choices.

The final decision of where to attend school is the place where all the elements are right: your child is comfortable socially and challenged academically. They are at a place where they "fit" and can become an integral member of their community. This puts your child on the right trajectory, where the substantial college investment begins to pay off immediately and sustains that early momentum through their career.

I offer a comprehensive six step program that is perfect for the high school sophomore or junior. It takes you and your child completely through the process, start to finish. I also offer targeted support for any step of the process -- just contact me and we can chat about where I might be able to offer some helpful guidance.

Your child's career does not start after college - it starts now.

Your child's career does not start after college - it starts now. While PSAT, ACT & SAT tutoring is the perfect place to start, in today's competitive environment it takes more than a great test score to put your child on the right trajectory, where the substantial college investment begins to pay off immediately and sustains that early momentum through their career.

My Unique Approach
I'm not your typical college counselor coming out of the public or private school counseling system. I've had a successful career as a stand-out human resources professional with 20+ years experience across a diversity of environments and organization sizes. I have extensive experience in both field and staff roles, appreciating the unique values of both. I am energized by opportunities spanning hands-on analyst to strategic partner. I am founder/owner of a human resources consulting firm. For the past 15 years in this capacity, I've worked with private and public sector clients spanning service and manufacturing companies to governmental and educational institutions.

My undergraduate degree in Human Resources and Family Studies from the University of Illinois- Urbana-Champaign gave me practical experience to in a broad base of knowledge about the physical, cognitive, and social development of children and adolescents. Additionally I focused on how families operate, develop, and change in response to the challenges of modern life. I graduated with honors winning the departmental Outstanding Student Award at graduation. I understand children and family.

My Master's degree in Labor and Industrial Relations also from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign gave me the education to recognize and understand the need for organizations to maximize their human resources. And in today's economy, the success of any enterprise lies with the quality of people it hires. I understand the impacts of increased global competition, changes in the nature of work and the composition of the labor force, extensive governmental regulation, company restructuring, and deregulation of product markets and how they are all factors contributing to a selection for a starting career. I understand the changing roles of traditional jobs/careers.

I'm a parent with a unique set of skills and experiences. The process I went through with my two daughters (one a sophomore at Johns Hopkins – Mechanical Engineering, Hodson Trust Scholarship Recipient and the other a senior at Villanova – Electrical Engineering, already accepted into the 5th year Master's program) taught me quite a bit about the college application process. To be honest, I hadn't given the college application process much thought until 2007, when my oldest daughter started 11th grade. Wow how things had changed. To my surprise, the competencies I’d gained from my 20+ years of human resource management and consulting, coupled with my Master's degree and my undergraduate, I had the perfect background to propel our family to a successful outcome. In addition, while supporting my younger daughter through the process, I honed my skills further with some of her classmates. While working with them (pro bono) I discovered that I have a knack for matching kids to colleges where they’ll shine.
