I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from Metropolitan State College, and later received my Master's degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. I taught both elementary education and special education for 17 years before I became a stay-at-home mom to my three beautiful children. During my years as a teacher, I spent most of my time as a resource teacher, helping students who had difficulties in math, reading, and writing. Many of my students were diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, physical disabilities, and behavior difficulties.
Since then I've tutored students who needed help in language arts and math. I enjoy watching my students gain skills and confidence in areas that give them frustration. I feel that every child should feel valued and capable of making progress. I will work with your child's strengths and interests to help them achieve the skills they need. I use a reward system for students who have a difficult time staying on task, as well as many hands-on activities to keep their interest.
I can tutor after school or on weekends. I am also available to work with children who are home-schooled during the weekday mornings.
