It is very important that you start helping your kids from the beginning of the school year. Please do not wait until they go to the “unrecoverable grade area”, and contact me or any other tutor who you feel could be helpful to get required help for your kids. My goal is to help your kids get the highest grade by understanding the material and I am sure your goal is the same.
And here is why:
The most important reason students get frustrated with math is because they do not know how to solve the problems and this comes from the lack of required skills. The fact is different mathematics subjects are all related to each other. If not impossible, it is hard to pass an algebra I without passing pre-algebra. For mathematics you need to learn skills step by step. However, for some other subjects such as history this is not true. You can start history from any point of time without a need to know too much about what happened before.
On the other hand, this is true about the school year too. It is very hard for students to recover mathematics courses after getting low grades in first couple of tests. There are two main reasons for that. The first reason is that they lack the required skills to proceed to the next topic and this starts to frustrate them. The second reason is statistical, to get better average grade, they need to earn extremely high grades which seems impossible to them. For example, if a student gets 65 and 70 in first two exams, he/she needs to get 90 and 95 in next exams to get an average of 80. The fact is getting 90 and 95 in the next exams for a student who got 65 and 70 in first two exams is very hard, since the material gets harder and he/she do not have required skills from previous part.
And about myself:
Even though my majors are Business Administration and Economics at the University of California-Irvine, my strongest subject is mathematics and I recently got my AA in mathematics. Also I was awarded by the mathematics department in Chaffey College, and no wonder, my mathematics cumulative GPA including 3 semesters of Calculus is 4.0. I also used to work in the Chaffey College as a Supplemental Instruction Leader which helps students in algebra to get better grades, but I quit the position after I transferred to UC Irvine. I used to hold my own sessions 3 times a week and my average voluntary attendance was 15 students. As my badge tells I have 1000+ hours of private tutoring just on WyzAnt with 5 star feedback and most of my students are regular weekly based students throughout the school year till final exam day.
My method is not just to sit with students and repeat what their teacher told them. I always walk with my students through the problems and I explain them wherever they get in trouble solving the problem. I will not proceed to the next topic until I feel confident about his/her understanding of the current material.
Algebra-1: Math everywhere
In my opinion, our world is created on math rules. We can find math working everywhere from our daily life to stars. Everyone needs to know math and algebra to be able to solve daily life problems. Algebra-1 gives needed skills to move on, and it is needed even for Calculus.
What is calculus?
For me, the calculus is the mathematical way of dealing with real life. Algebra, geometry, and trigonometry deal with perfect shapes and situations such as square, triangle, sphere, or cylinder. However there is no such limit for calculus.
Even though it was not requirement for my major, I passed 3 semesters of calculus with GPA of 4.0. I also got rewarded as an outstanding calculus student in Chaffey College.
I make my students understand the concepts of derivative and integral first. Then I start to derive or integrate functions with them and help them get the required skills in dealing with them.
I am business-economics student in UC Irvine, and I have more than 10 years of experience in the field. I can explain the basics of economics the way it is easy for students to understand.
In my opinion the principals of economics should be mandatory for all college students since it helps them to make right decisions.
Even though in the real world we have to deal with imperfect shapes, the base to be able to deal with them is perfect shapes.
I passed more than 20 units of mathematics including trigonometry, algebra, and calculus which all are very helpful in better understanding the geometry. I am very experienced in tutoring geometry since I had couple of students during this school year.
I can help you understand the basics of the geometry with easy steps and playing with general rules. Geometry needs some tools and some skills which I know how to transfer to my students.
Pre-Algebra: Your foundation for college and beyond math.
I am tutoring for different students for Precalculus and Calculus. They are losing many little points on Algebra skills. They know the Calculus skills, but they have problems with Algebra. These small mistakes are turning their grades to C and under.
It is very important to master Algebra skills before moving on.
Precalculus is harder than Calculus. Believe or not, it is true because in Precalculus students have to cover different topics and get familiar with all of them, but in Calculus students' focus is mostly on couple of topics in depth.
For this reason it is important to have a good understanding in Precalculus to be successful in Calculus I, II and III. Your investment to improve Precalculus grade is highly profitable in Calculus.
I have been to lots of exams as a student. However, I have been to more exams as a tutor or supplemental instructor. This experience gives me the good vision of knowing what kinds of questions are important for tests.
I start my SAT sessions by going over tests with my students and I explain whenever it seems they have difficulty doing the problem. I always make sure they understand the material before I move to the other questions.
I love sine, cosine, tangent, and cotangent. I also like to challenge the identity problems. They are so fun. Solving each one of them gives me a great pleasure and feeling of victory. I transfer the same feelings to my students and I can see their smile after they beat the problems.
If you need help in trigonometry, I am the right person. I can help you on unit circle, solving triangles, identities, and word problems.
You will need these skills in real life problems, engineering, and calculus. They are essential for higher math.
Excellent Tutor — Nader is an enthusiastic, patient, and knowledgeable tutor. My daughter really likes his teaching style. Very comfortable to be around and trustworthy. He teaches with confidence and helps the student feel confident also. He is always easy to reach by cell phone. We have Nader as our tutor for Mathematics, but I am sure he is astute in all other subjects. I would highly recommend Nader for a tuto ...
