My expertise is in American History, Political Science, European and World History, Public Speaking, Business, Study Skills and Marketing. I have an MBA from Pepperdine University. My marketing and public speaking knowledge comes from 15 years of hands-on experience.

My resume doesn't show my aptitude for American, European and World History or my love of teaching. Throughout my career I have mentored young people and adults in business, marketing, public speaking, career advice and history. l have taught UCLA extension classes and have been a guest teacher at USC and CSUN. I have a passion for teaching with the goal of having the student learn the subject material and do well.

I have always been an avid reader of American, European and World History and American Government. In the past 10 years I read over 150 books/e-books on American, European and World History including all of books on Presidents of the United States and most of the World Leaders and Conquerers throughout the centuries Many of the books I have read are Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award Winners.

I have tutored high school and college students and adults for the past 10 years. I recently tutored a college student in the pre-Revolution era through Reconstruction who was earning D grades in American History. She received a B+ on her midterm and aced her final.

I am very adept and comfortable teaching and tutoring early American History through the Obama administration.

To prepare for each tutoring session, I find the student's class book online that he/she is using and study each chapter. In addition, I ask for a copy of their class synopsis with quizzes, midterm and final dates. I work closely with the students on topics their teachers are highlighting in class and what they are having challenges with. Usually the student will email me the chapter and topics prior to each tutoring session. I create worksheets and bullet points on each topic from my past reading and any extra details from my history library. My teaching philosophy is to be prepared, make the information interesting and engage the student.

Studying for a final is usually 2 sessions.

Thank you,
Karen
