I am a music teacher. Specializing in Choral Performance and Choir directing, I have over 20 years of multicultural music experience, teaching privately and in the public schools, as a music teacher, a choral conductor, as well as performing all over the world as a professional entertainer, musician and vocalist, with two CD’s to my credit.
I have four years of Music teaching experience at the elementary level for LAUSD as a Music Specialist and one semester at the High School level. The music subjects taught include Vocal Music, Choir, Chorus, Vocal Ensemble, General Music, Music Theory, Music History, Music Appreciation, World Music, Kodaly, Orff Instruments, and Recorder. For the last 25 years I have been a successful private music teacher instructing students in piano, guitar and voice. In addition I have taught 6 years in the classroom as a substitute teacher for grade levels K-5 in general and special education. I am also a published poet, songwriter and illustrator.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and Voice Performance and my Credential preparation in Music Education at CSUN. I received my Clear Credential in Music in 2008 and received my Clear Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development Certificate in January 2008. I have been commended for establishing excellent performance choruses with more than 90 students and for organizing special music performances with combined school choirs, winter and spring programs, black history programs and special holiday performances, including Chinese New Years and Cinco de Mayo song and dance festivals. I have organized graduation ceremonies for 5th Grade and Kindergarten. I have acquired a vast music curriculum for grades K-12. I have prepared my private voice students to pass vocal auditions for shows and performance choirs. My piano students learn to sight read and play proficiently with both hands within 3 months.
Core subjects such as Language Arts, Math, English, History and Social Studies can be enhanced by my music curriculum. ESL students will have a better understanding of the English language through the use of music. My curriculum will include all the modalities of learning: visuals, aural and kinesthetic. I will also develop an outstanding student chorus and show choir, enabling every child to shine and work to the best of their ability.
