I am a seasoned educator and am looking for a very small, select group of students to work with this school year. If you are interested in more than just homework help, and want a tutor who will both mentor and challenge your student, then please contact me.
In addition to my 6 years of tutoring experience, I am a community college faculty instructor.
I have a Master's degree in geology
from Arizona State University and Bachelor's degree in both biology
and geology from the University of Western Ontario. My tutoring experience is very diversified, and includes science
, test preparation
, and English
. My educational background has given me excellent language
skills, as well as a strong foundation in math and science. I love being able to help a student understand a subject with which they have previously struggled. I have tutored students in most math and science courses, and I am comfortable with all grade levels, from elementary school to college.
My teaching style varies according to the individual needs of the student. My main goal is to help the student become enthusiastic about the specific subject or activity, and confident in their ability to interpret what a question is actually asking. I am very flexible, and will tailor the curriculum and evaluation methods based on discussions with the student. If desired by either the student and/or parent, I can provide additional practice resources to help strengthen concepts covered in our tutoring sessions. Whenever possible, I am available to my students via email
, text, or Skype if they have a problem with their homework that I can guide them through.
I am open to group tutoring sessions, so feel free to ask! If you need last minute help for a test or exam I will do my best to accommodate you, however please be aware that I charge an increased rate for short-notice scheduling.
I think that tutoring can be a mutual rewarding experience, and I look forward to helping students excel

I read an article today listing the 5 states with the greatest increases in college tuition. It stated that the average cost of tuition (plus the assorted battery of fees) for in-state students was $9,428 dollars last year (2011-2012). If you were an out-of-state
student your bill would have topped $22,000. Note that this is simply the tuition cost - room and board will increase that figure...
I believe that students should have some time off from their studies in the summer, and get a little bit of time to 'recharge.' However, that time of year can also be very helpful for working on improving critical reading skills. Reading is a subject that
tends to get pushed to the back of the priority list when studying these days, however it plays a big role - even in things like math and...
