“The single best word of advice I can give you : Teach your children and your grandchildren Chinese. It’s going to be the most important language in their lifetime.” – Jim Rogers
I am a native Chinese . I have lived in California for the past thirty years. For the past 20 years, I have been working as a coordinator helping many companies (Wyse Technology, Electronic Arts, 3M Touch, GE, Siemens, Bristol, etc.) to communicate with their suppliers or joint ventures in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and so on.
I started teaching/coaching people Chinese Mandarin from 12 years ago to those people who need this language for their jobs and business. Now, I have a range of students: infants, toddlers, high school and college students, engineers, diplomat, businessmen, marketing directors, and CEOs.
I design the class and materials for every student depends on his/her needs, interests and levels. I don't just teach language, but also share the cultures, history, current issues and business experiences with students.
I really enjoy teaching young children. I read Chinese stories and sing Chinese children songs with them, and we draw, paint, play games and watch Chinese cartoons together. Occasionally, we enjoy some Chinese foods and celebrate Chinese holidays and festivals as well. My teaching method to little kids is let them expose to Chinese with me. Children remember what makes them happy, so my teaching style is let children having fun in learning Chinese. For non-Chinese background children, I strongly suggest parents learning Chinese together and let the Chinese language and cultures become a part of their life.
As to middle and high school students, although I am very familiar with all of textbooks used in middle school to college in California, but I not only teach students textbooks, but also build up their language skill and skills to take SAT Subject Chinese and AP Chinese with relevant Chinese cultural lessons such as idioms,Chinese history stories and customs, origins of Chinese characters etc. I make sure that my lessons make learning fun and effective.
For AP Chinese test and SAT Subject Chinese , I emphasize and enhance students in the five goal areas: communications, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities. I also emphasize the skills in taking the AP Chinese and SAT Subject Chinese tests in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
I also design intensive and comprehensive classes for professionals and special needs. The class is emphasized on preparing students with comprehensive ideals and information of conversational language, business cultures, geography, transportation and where to get help in China and other Chinese regions.
I teach students from Hollywood Hills (L.A.) to Newberry Park (Ventura). Please contact me if you are interested in learning Chinese, I will be very glad to contribute my skills to help you.
