California State University Fullerton (English)
I have, for as long as my memory goes back, been an avid reader. I was the kid that would find herself in trouble for skipping chores or homework to hide in her room and read books. I could never explain why I felt a pull towards books and writing, but I always knew that it was important to me, and that it would continue to be important in my future. So although my tendency towards reading often got me into problems in my childhood, it began my path on a journey I never would have guessed I’d be on...
Years later, I am now a junior in college at Cal State Fullerton and am in the process of earning my BA in English before continuing my schooling to get a MFA in creative writing. As for my qualifications, I am well acquainted with the scholastic style of writing, as I am currently immersed in the academic world myself and can therefore use my knowledge to help other students meet the appropriate academic standards. Though I cannot claim to be a professional instructor, I am not a stranger to tutoring; throughout my high school and college years, I have edited and reviewed numerous papers for my classmates, carefully leading them through the improving process while showing them where to implement the applicable standards.
As for my grades and achievements, I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA, and passed seven AP classes in high school, the latter of which contributed to my receiving my Associates Degree in Arts and Humanities a year early. I currently have a 3.6 GPA, and I consistently receive high scores on my exams, as well as in my classes overall. I have also received the Dean’s Honor List Award in every semester of my college career. Additionally, I have been rewarded with three publications for two short stories and one poem, and am in the process of collaborating with publishing companies to further establish myself in the world of writing.
Throughout my life so far, I have bettered myself through academia and experiences, and will inevitably continue to do so throughout and after my schooling. But as of right now, I am hoping to extend my passion for English in order to contribute to the learning and development of anyone in need, as it would be an absolute honor to do so. I am patient, encouraging and enthusiastic, and will strive to help any student reach his/her goals. If my services are of interest to you, please feel free to contact me!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently working towards my BA in English at California State University, Fullerton. I received a 4 on both my AP English and composition and my AP literature tests in high school and am continuing to excel in my higher-level English classes in college.
I have passed my AP European History test and class in high school, and am continuing to study the subject in my literature classes, which require a study on the historical background of each text for the sake of understanding and applying the historical context. I also have been studying European history with an emphasis on British history and literature.
For the past two years, I have taken courses that cover American and British literature, with a substantial study on British history. Literature analysis is my current study and what I am getting my BA Degree for, so I am definitely well-studied in this area.
Through my experience of editing research and analysis papers throughout my high school and college careers, I have developed the ability to efficiently and effectively proofread papers and writing samples, while simultaneously explaining my notes and changes to the student involved.
The degree program that I am currently enrolled in is centered upon a student's ability to effectively read difficult materials while understanding and analyzing its meaning and context. Being enrolled in this program is an assurance that I have the skills necessary for high-level reading, and I would love to pass those skills on to anyone in need.
Writing is a huge part of the last four years of my life, and I have developed an extensive amount of experience with it. In high school, I passed my AP European History, AP American History, AP English and Composition, and my AP Literature classes and exams, all of which demand professional, college-level writing skills. Into college, I am taking at least two or more literature/writing classes a semester, and am continuing to earn excellent grades. I have also had two short stories and one poem published in the Poetic Power contests, and am currently networking with writing companies.
