My name is Josh and I look forward to helping you and your student achieve their academic success. My first experience in a "tutor" role was as a camp counselor for a week in the summer of 2004. The kids were typical 3rd grade boys: fun, energetic, loud, and a little crazy at times (lol)! But it was that experience that made me want to continue down a path of education. Since then I have worked with students anywhere from 2nd grade to sophomores in college.
In 2010 I had my first formal job as a tutor for an agency that sponsored kids who had great difficulties in either math, reading, or writing. I remember one time in particular, a student of mine did not grasp the concept of multiplication. This kid was more of a visual learner, so I showed him how multiplication works by using lego blocks. He made three sets of five blocks stacked on top of each other. Then I explained how five stacked blocks multiplied by three adds up to fifteen blocks. The legos gave him a visible explanation for the concept of multiplication. Simple as it is, it worked!
I earned my BA degree from The Master's College, a private school located in Santa Clarita, CA. The teachers there helped hone my listening, teaching, and communicating skills as well as my overall understanding of math, reading, writing, language, history, and philosophy. It is in these areas that I will be most helpful to you. So, if you are having trouble in any of those subjects, please let me know and I will be more than willing to tutor you. In fact, it would be my delight.
I hope to see you soon and help you excel in the subjects you struggle with and to succeed at the level of education you desire.
