I am a California credentialed secondary science (grades 7 to 12) teacher with more than 15 years of teaching experience at all academic levels. I have taught bilingual kindergarten as well as AP Biology, Physiology and Physics. I even taught one semester of Introductory Statistics for college freshmen. Most of my teaching assignments were at the junior or senior high school level. I have been a Science Fair Mentor, Coordinator District Judge.
I love to learn and to share my love of learning. My most frequently used words are "How" and "Why?" Therefore,I studied science in college. I wanted to know how things work. Why various things work in certain ways? I graduated with a BS in Microbiology, the scientific study of germs and other very tiny things, from California state University Long Beach. I also have a minor in Chemistry. Think of the classic mad scientist stereotype concocting new medicines or flavors, safely and sanely. After graduating from college, I worked as a Phlebotomy and Laboratory Technician at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. I was a Fermentation Plant Supervisor for a pharmaceutical company. I partnered with the Salk Institute to complete some of the basic research necessary to develop an HIV/AIDS vaccine. I helped launch an HIV detection test with Bio-Rad Laboratories,Inc. I am a Certified Public Health Microbiologist for the State of California.
I look forward to meeting you and working together to improve your academic skills and understanding.
