It is my #1 goal to minimize my students' writing
, studying, and test-testing anxieties by helping free them up to actually ENJOY what they're doing. After all, learning is a creative act
As a trained Academic Manager, my approach to tutoring is highly structured, personalized, fun and effective. I specialize in supporting college and high school students to find a writing process that works for them, and I'm proud to say I've helped dozens of students craft their best papers.
A little about me? I was homeschooled until 8th grade, completed high school at age 16 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Colorado with a BA in Psychology
(concentration in Chemistry
/Neuroscience). I have proven strengths in English
, including 1,100+ hours advanced training in biology
Although I have met my pre-med requirements and was hired as an associate professor by CU's Psychology Department while still an undergrad, I chose to hold off on medical school and instead pursue my ambitions of being a professional writer (a goal I have accomplished since moving to Los Angeles!).
In 2013 I earned a certificate in Academic Management from UCLA Graduate Extension, which has pushed the level of support I'm able to offer my students far beyond just basic tutoring. As an Academic Manager, I view each student within the context of their entire education and take a hands-on approach to organization
, time management
, and proactively making studying a more fun, consistently engaging process. My job is to ease the burden, every step of the way.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to working with you!
"I cannot recommend Bethany highly enough. My daughter was struggling with her grade requirements and tests... with Bethany's help she is flourishing. She has a gentle way of helping my daughter learn as well as keep her focused and on track when she is tired after a long school day. Bethany's tutoring help is such a great asset to my daughter's education. And we are fortunate to have such a reliable and caring person come into our lives." -Julianna B.
