I've graduated California State University, Northridge with two B.A.s in deaf studies (ASL/ASL lit concentration), and communicative disorders (speech language pathology concentration). I love to teach, and I love to tutor.
I currently work with children ages 3 and up Mixed Martial Arts at Aziz MMA. I have been training for about 10 years now, and I have a second degree black belt sanctioned by the Israeli Judo/Jujitsu Association (IJJA) an a first degree in Taekwondo, though I train in many more styles. I was also a swimmer for about 13 years and spent most of that time on a various swim teams, my specialty stroke is backstroke.
I've also volunteered my time with deaf children and children age 1 to 3. Academically speaking, I'm known for my flair in the English language, my love for literature and my aptitude for psychology (I presented a paper at University of California, Irvine on anti-social personality disorders). I love to write, read, and I've been published in a poetry book entitled, "Immortal Verses." I used to volunteer as a tutor at Camp Kilpatrick, tutoring inmates. I have slightly over three years experience working with children with Asperger's, autism, ADD/ADHD, and other special needs children. I hope to continue working with special needs children as a speech language pathologist. I am applying for master's programs.
I am comfortable tutoring math up to algebra I (and possible II). I am very comfortable in English, vocabulary, spelling, and other aspects of English papers. I am also comfortable with college GE level psychology (especially abnormal psychology), I speak enough Spanish to be very comfortable tutoring level I and II. I am comfortable tutoring American Sign Language and would do well in explaining deaf culture.
My methods are very hands on. I am comfortable going over the subject in practice problems and using repetition as well as having the student think for themselves. I will not be giving them the answers, instead I will challenge them to find it themselves, with guidance. It is my goal that when they leave, they leave with new knowledge and understanding of the subject, and especially, with hope. No obstacle is too great! Hopefully, we'll talk soon!
I have worked with categorically Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals for almost 5 years. I volunteer, in my spare time, at the House Research Institute's Family Camp caring and counseling Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.
I have been doing Mixed Martial Arts for a little more than 10 years. I have experience in Tae Kwon Do, Jujitsu, Krav Maga, Judo, Self Defense, Grappling, Kick boxing and Boxing. I have been teaching these styles for nearly 5 years.
