My name is Yossi.
I was born and grew up in a Kibbutz in Israel.
Following my high school graduation I served (the mandatory service) in the Paratrooper brigade of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). I came to the USA in 1974 and I became a US citizen in 1978.
I graduated from C.C.N.Y. (The City College of the City University of New York) in 1981 with a degree in B.S.E.E. (Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering).
Tutoring Experience (See also Additional Higher Education and Teaching
Experience at the bottom of this article).
When my two sons were in Public/Middle/High schools, I tutored them and some of their friends in subjects such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, History and Geography. In addition, I taught conversational Hebrew to adults in Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue.
In the past two years I did some private tutoring in Algebra and Geometry. The students were referred to me by other tutoring companies or via private contacts.
I am currently a member of the tutoring teams of two national one-on-one tutoring organizations (WyzAnt and Tutor Doctor) in various subjects Such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physics, College Preparation Tests (ACT Math, ACT Reading, ACT Science, SAT Math, SAT Reading and GRE), History, Philosophy, Hebrew and more.
College Education and Electrical/Electronic Engineering Experience.
I received my Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree (B.S.E.E.) from the School of Engineering of the City College of the City University of New York (C.C.N.Y.). I have 30 years of experience in design, analysis, design verification/testing and technical documentation as an Electrical/Electronic Engineer in both the Aerospace and commercial Industries. I worked for companies/corporations such as BAE Systems (Flight Control/Platform Solutions division), Crane Aerospace and Electronics (Aircraft Landing Control division), Litton Guidance and Control Systems(Navigation Control division), Hughes Aircraft Company (Missile System Group - MSG), Titan Corporation (SESCO division) and Cardkey System Inc. (Access Control Systems). Our customers included companies/organizations such as NASA, NATO, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Bell, Airbus, and the US Armed Forces. I had Secret Security Clearance from the US Department of Defense (DOD) from 1981 to 1989. As a research, design and development Electronic Engineer I worked on projects such as the Maverick and AMRAAM missile systems, the Boeing prototype design of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), Airbus A400, Boeing 787 and more.
My design and development tasks required Engineering Mathematics knowledge such as Calculus and Differential equations, ability to analyze, design and verify complex Electronic and Electro/Mechanic control systems and the use of state-of-the-art Engineering development tools, and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) applications.
Many of the above Engineering tasks required code writing of Firmware and Software (VHDL, Verilog, System C, Assembly, Basic, C, and more). The Tasks also required the writing of engineering technical documentations using computer software applications such as Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel), Microsoft Outlook, DOORS, Visio and more. Many of the projects I worked on required me to have direct verbal and written communications with the customer, so, excellent verbal and written communication skills were needed for internal interaction/interface within the company as well as External interaction (the customers).
In some of the design and development projects I had a technical leading role.
Additional Higher Education and Teaching Experience
After my mandatory Military service in Israel Defense Forces (IDF), I was a youth leader (grades 10-12) for two years in one of Israel's youth movement (The Mahanot Haolim - "Dror").
Following my service as a Youth Leader, I studied Electrical/Electronics in the Center for Technical Training in Israel (Israel's National Institute for Technical Training - Israel's Ministry of Education). I graduated from this technical school after two years and received an Electronic Technician Certificate/Degree (similar to a Technical Associates degree in the US).
Following my graduation from the Center for Technical Training school, I taught Electronic ('ORT' technical program) for two years in a regional high school (grades 10-12) in Israel.
