Hello, my name is Grace, and I am majoring in Philosophy: Law and Society at Cal Poly Pomona.
Growing up, my parents instilled in me a strict sense of discipline and educational drive and because of them, I strongly believe that the study habits and positive educational influences that a child has in their earlier years of life can greatly impact and increase their overall education success. I also feel that personal, mental, and emotional growth is extremely important and should be supported in all of a child's activities and involvements. With all of these foundations, a child can grow into a healthy, well rounded, mature, intelligent, and successful adult who will be able to handle the stresses and demands of college, university, and career life.
I have always loved to work with kids and have had a lot of experience in babysitting and tutoring the young children in my family. I have 8 + years of experience in helping to raise and coach my younger sisters throughout their middle and high school education. Additionally, I volunteered for 3 years as a peer mentor and tutor at my old middle school, helping the students work on their homework after school. I able to offer k-8 students general homework assistance as well as in depth help with subjects like English, writing, reading, and math. My style fun and hands on, yet efficient style of tutoring will capture your student's attention and keep them interested and willing to learn, long after our tutoring session is over!
In addition, if you would like your child to learn extra skills, I also teach healthy and easy eating/cooking skills for children and adults alike. Many children nowadays are too exposed to fast food and unhealthy eating. I know first-hand that cooking can be simple, delicious, safe, and healthy. I have cooked frequently for over 9 years now, and have specialized in healthy cooking for the past 5 years. I have taught many friends and family members how to prepare healthy meals for themselves and their loved ones. I have a good knowledge of recipes, tricks and tips, and nutritional facts that will ensure your child is excited to eat and cook healthy food!
Additionally, I have been practicing yoga for 4+ years, both with numerous instructors and on my own. Just as I believe the building blocks of education are important in the ultimate success of the student, I feel as though the basic positions of yoga are the most important to assuring a safe and healthy progression in the world of yoga. My yoga instruction will focus on posture, body awareness, and proper breathing habits during yoga practice. This subject is appropriate for yoga students of all ages, and is beneficial in preventing injuries in future practices.
If you feel that I can be of assistance to you and your child, please feel free to contact me at any time!
