I am a graduate of UCLA. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Economics. Over the years in college, I had the opportunity to tutor students of many ethnic backgrounds and age groups. While I tutor a broad range of subjects in Mathematics, I am also passionate about teaching English as Second Language, and Mandarin Chinese. In my experience helping struggling students succeed in their classes, we always seem to have the lots of fun (with remarkable advancements) completing the homeworks and preparing for the upcoming exams. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, yoga, running, and the game of football.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from UCLA. In order to teach this subject well, I put myself into taking copies after copies of real ACT math tests, all with great, if not perfect, scores. This experience of taking numerous real ACT math tests, together with many years experience of tutoring in all levels of mathematics, I am extremely confident in sharing my best knowledge in ACT math with you.

Algebra 1

I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from UCLA. I have been tutoring Algebra (1&2) for years now, with great facility. Sometimes a tutor who excelled in teaching higher level math is incapable of explaining the easy concept in algebra, because the easy stuff is now common sense to them, and they wouldn't know how to explain a "common sense" idea.

But I put myself into my students' shoes to understand the reasons behind these incomprehension, and make these concepts a "common sense" of their own.

Algebra 2

I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from UCLA. I have been tutoring Algebra (1&2) for years now, with great facility. Sometimes a tutor who is excelled in teaching higher level math is incapable of explaining the easy concept in algebra, because the easy stuff is a now common sense to them, and they wouldn't know how to explain a "common senses."

Calculus

I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from UCLA.

Calculus is my best area of specialty, as well as my favorite subject in mathematics.
I have a strong passion for calculus, and through years of tutoring in this subject, I know exactly what confuses my students the most, and the way to shed light on these cloudy incomprehension in calculus.

I am very patient, easygoing, and skilled in making my students understand the concepts of this subject without much difficulty.

Chinese

I am a Chinese international student who had 12 years of education in China. I am proficient in more than 5000 Chinese characters, and capable of writing a professional academic paper in Chinese. I have experience in tutoring my friends, including my girlfriend, for the Chinese classes they were taking. I am confident and most comfortable tutoring Chinese.

Elementary Math

I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from UCLA. I had years of experience tutoring all levels of mathematics, of which I spent a good amount of time with young students under 6th grade. I had volunteered in mentoring children up to 8th grade while I was in UCLA, during which I was assigned 2-3 children each weekend to help them with their math homework, catching up with weekly lectures, as well as getting ahead of the textbooks. Often times it is much different tutoring a child than a teenager or an adult; it takes much more love, care, and extra patience to help the children get to love math, which is very important in children's education - the goal is for them to love the subjects, and have confidence in themselves.

Geometry

I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from UCLA. Math is my area of specialty. I have a strong passion for Math, and through years of tutoring in this subject, I know exactly what confuses my students the most, and the way to shed light on these cloudy uncertainties in Math. I am very patient, easygoing, and skilled in helping my students to understand the concepts of this subject without much difficulty.

Japanese

I have taken 2 years of Japanese classes, and speak/use Japanese on a daily basis with friends, and read Japanese magazines and news.

Prealgebra

I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from UCLA. I have been tutoring Algebra for years now, with great facility. Sometimes a tutor who is excelled in teaching higher level math is incapable of explaining the easy concept in algebra, because the easy stuff is a now common sense to them, and they wouldn't know how to explain a "common senses."
