Dear Parents and Students,
I believe it is important to know a little bit about a tutor so you can decide if they might be a good fit for you so I would like to share a little of my background with you! I am originally from The Bay Area where I earned my B.A. in Communication from Saint Mary’s College of California while maintaining a 3.75 GPA. My studies included a Major in Communication with a Minor in English. During the summers, I attended The University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming for Summer School studies in Geology. I believe patience, a great sense of humor and strong communication skills -- listening, especially -- help make an excellent tutor. I believe it's about understanding the needs of the student and what subjects they are requiring help in so they feel more confident in their skills and abilities to master these "challenging" subjects!
By nature, I am personable, a hard worker with drive and ambition that help me to be an instrumental tutor. I am gifted with a fundamental work ethic that supports a deep desire to succeed -- I will give 100% towards helping any student become self-confident in their "challenging" subjects.
As a stepmother to two children, my son who is in 4th grade and my daughter who is in 8th grade, I am constantly helping them with their homework assignments. The subjects I have tutored them in are English (Composition, Grammar, Literature, Proffreading, Reading and Spelling), Vocabulary and Writing, Math (Elementary and Algebra), Science (Elementary and Geology) and Social Studies. Over the past two years of being involved in their education, their grades have dramatically improved to where they are achieving “A’s” and “B’s.”
I also have helped them gain an understanding of the importance to time-management and using a "planner" to stay organized and be aware of deadlines.
I would enjoy helping you with any subjects you are "shaky" in so you become more confident in the curriculum. I can do this through a good sense of humor, actively listening and having a fun and outgoing attitude! I really look forward to working with you!
Thank you!
