I enjoy working one-on-one with students. I am currently a classroom teacher in a local school district. I have experience in elementary, middle school, and high school classrooms (I have several credentials). One of my students in reading, math, history, and writing earned D's and F's in sixth grade (when I started with her). She graduated from eighth grade earning straight A's! I am also currently tutoring students attending Diablo Valley College in English and essay writing. I am available most afternoons late, evenings, and weekends.

I have 30+ years teaching in the local public schools including this year. I currently hold both elementary and high school (single subject) credentials as well as have graduated with a law degree (J.D.).

As a current public school teacher, I am trained in the new methodologies and theories surrounding the recently CA state adopted Common Core standards. I also understand how the future state testing will differ from the STAR testing of the past.

I have embraced the thinking strategies curriculum as well as the Singapore Math strategies currently being used to give students more power in their academics and problem-solving skills.

I am confident that I am able to help any student be successful by encouraging those skills which are often most needed - critical thinking, confidence, empowerment.

The use of organization strategies, clear and consistent directions, and praise/rewards to facilitate learning for students who have difficulty staying focused and paying attention, controlling behavior, and hyperactivity (over-activity).
