My background was pre-med/pharm at UC Berkeley with focus on Biochemistry. I completed all undergrad math/biology/chemistry/physics. I left after three years for personal reasons and joined the retail industry. After management at Ross, Target, shoe boutiques, Nordstrom, and I am now at Neiman Marcus. I regret leaving school, however, that path allows me to appreciate the value of education and the opportunities it brings. That real life experience opens my perspective to business and now I am back in school to pursue my business degree while working full-time. My goal is an MBA in accounting and become a Certified Public Accountant.
My experience with tutoring was throughout high school because I was always in Honors and AP classes for all subjects and graduated second of my class. In Berkeley, I continued the tradition with volunteer groups at public schools, library, and even Sunday school in Vietnamese.
The retail experience taught me valuable lessons such as humble and humility while maintaining confidence and integrity to deliver the best service in all situations. That is something I will apply to my approach, techniques, and methods for tutoring as well.
