I am incredibly passionate about the subjects I teach. I find that such zeal is important when teaching sciences as it eliminates the tediousness and frustration that is normally associated with Math and Sciences. Additionally, I am passionate about teaching and take special interest in the development of my tutees as students and scientists rather than as individuals who can pass tests.
Based on my Pre-Med background in College I have extensive knowledge in Biology and Math as well as Chemistry in which I earned my Bachelor's degree.
I am also very patient and will take whatever measures and time that are necessary for my students to succeed at their tasks.
I am also able to communicate well. My communication skills have been culminated through work as a tutor/mentor, in residence life as a Resident advisor and as a debater. In college, I was a class mentor for 3 semesters through the Grinnell College Science Learning Center. I taught General and Organic Chemistry. Part of that job was to attend all class session and in conjunction with the Professor assist students in grasping concepts in the subject areas. Also, outside of class hours I conducted 2 sessions weekly to provide supplemental lectures or assistance with assignments. I was also a personal tutor in General and Organic Chemistry.
Additionally, I was a lab assistant for General, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. I was responsible for instructing and helping students carry out lab assignments.
During High School I tutored elementary students in English and Spanish. I have also completed a number of education courses in college including Methods in Science and Math Education. I have also undergone extensive training and attended a number of workshops on tutoring.
I will ensure that any student under my charge truly learns all of the requested material and more.
I have a BA in Chemistry May 2013: Grinnell College, IA and an associate's degree in General Science from Munro College with emphasis on Math, Biology and Chemistry. Further for the first 2 years of my college career I was a Pre-Med student and so I have taken a number of Math classes and Math intensive courses such as Calculus I and II, Calculus based Physics I and II and Physical Chemistry.
I also have 3 years of Class TA instruction in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry (Grinnell College) and 2 years of personal tutoring general chemistry (Grinnell College). Additionally, I have taken a number of teaching methodology classes and workshops.
I have a BA in chemistry May 2013: Grinnell College, IA and an associate's degree in general science from Munro College with emphasis on math, biology, and chemistry. Furthermore, for the first two years of my college career I was a pre-med student, so I have taken a number of biology classes including neuroscience, molecular biology, and ecology, and evolutionary biology.
I also have three years of Class TA and two years of personal tutoring at Grinnell College. Additionally, I have taken a number of teaching methodology classes and workshops. These included Methods in Scientific teaching and Introduction to Education. The workshops I attended (total of 20 hours) were geared to the assessment of current strategies in science education as well as learning new techniques.

I also have three years of Class TA instruction in general chemistry and organic chemistry (Grinnell College) and two years of personal tutoring general chemistry (Grinnell College). Additionally, I have taken a number of teaching methodology classes and workshops. These were geared to the instruction of math and science to primarily college-aged students.
Specific to elementary-aged students, I have tutored a number of elementary-aged students during high school in math and science.
I am recent graduate of Grinnell College with a BA in chemistry. However. I have a wide array of knowledge in sciences having completed all the medical school requirements including biology, chemistry, math, and physics.
During college I also took a number of education classes which covered methods in science instruction across age groups including K-College. I was also a class and Lab TA three years during college, so I have experience in science education. During high school I also taught elementary-aged students math and general science.
I am a recent graduate of Grinnell College where I have taken a number of Chemistry classes which included 2 semesters of Organic Chemistry (I and II) and Advanced Organic Chemistry (a class which focused on Total Synthesis as a working example of Organic Chemistry principles and reactions) Further, I conducted a semester long research project in Total Synthesis. I was also a lab TA and class TA for Organic I and Organic II respectively. I was also a personal tutor for a student while in college.
My methods include providing a number of self-written worksheets and problems and using the concepts from the problem to explain more general concepts. Subsequently, I connect those broader ideas to more concrete examples. Like using polymer chemistry to explain the industrial process for the tproduction of Nylon. Then show video of the Nylon rope trick.
I am a capable tutor as I have had experience and training. I completed a number of college courses in Science and Math Education. Further I paricipated in several tutor training workshops.
Specific to Mathematics, I completed 2 years as a Premed student prior to switching to major in Chemistry. In those two years I completed a number of Math courses in Calculus 1 and 2, as well as a number of Math intensive courses such as Physics 1, Physics 2 and Physical Chemistry.
I was a debater for a total of 4 years throughout my high school and college years. I was also a Model UN conference delegate in 2009. Additionally, I was a member of the speech and oration club in high school which participated in a number of public speaking and recitation competitions.
I have been a Track and Field athlete for a total of 6 years including 4 years of collegiate DIII Track and Field. I was primarily a 200m and 400m runner. I was a member of the silver and bronze medalling 4x4 teams at the MWC Conference Championships in 2013 (indoor and outdoor respectively.) I was also team captain for my Junior and Senior seasons.
Further, I have taken courses in sports theory and sports physiology.
I attended Grinnell College which is a liberal arts institution. Therefore, in addition to subjects geared towards my major, I completed a number of mandatory writing intensive classes including, but not limited to, literary analysis, american literary traditions, philosophy and humanities. Also, all students are required to take a semester long class specifically designed to teach college-level writing.
Terrific Tutor and Patient Person. — Definitely a GREAT addition to this program. We just wanted to put in a well-deserved word for David G. Our son was behind and lost in Bio-Chemistry. David came to the rescue! His manner is very polite and he is every bit as patient as he is described on the site. We went from giving this new tutor a try to having him work with our son for 3.5 hours. Our son went from skeptical to a fan of David a ...
