Vista raised, VHS graduate.

I'm currently a Master's student at UCSD. I'm studying Geochemistry and I have a BS in Geology and a BA in history. I have worked as an adjunct Professor at a local San Diego community college for oceanography lab. I have been a TA for 2 introductory science University of California, San Diego courses (mostly 1st and 2nd year students). There I learned to teach in a way that was both engaging for non-scientists, or students recently beginning their scholarly pursuits. Being rather young myself, I identify well with problems and concerns that young adults have, and strive to help them develop an optimistic outlook towards their academic career.

Analytical chemistry formed the basis of research, my graduate coursework consisted of these classes:
•Computing for Science/Oceanography
•Aqueous Chemistry
•Marine Chemistry
•Shape and Structure of the Ocean Floor
•Climate Change in the Geologic Record
•Whole Earth Geochemistry
•Marine Geology
•Isotope Geochemistry

I passed 7 AP tests and 3 IB tests as a high school student, took the SAT and ACT, was a member of Academic Decathlon, and am CBEST, CSET 122, and CSET 126 certified. I have worked part-time in high school and all throughout university, so I understand time demands of students today and how efficient tutoring needs to be. I am a bit obsessed with college admissions for students who come from underperforming environments.

My hobbies include dog training, powerlifting, guitar, and juggling. I also have volunteered as judge for local county science fairs.

SAT Writing

Currently a science graduate student with personal interest in academic writing.

I took the SAT three times during high school. First score was a 10. Second was 11, and finally third was a 12. I still have the study materials and copies of my essays to discuss ways to optimize time on writing, hints and tricks to successfully passing the writing portion.
