Hello to those of you looking for hope for you or your child,
It is one of my gifts and talents to teach and tutor students. I have had 18 years experience teaching pre-school through high school. I have also had training in Applied Behavior Therapy children on the Autism Spectrum and those needing behavioral therapy. I have tutored various aged children in this therapy including pre-school and upper elementary. I also have experience teaching Intensive Intervention classes with children two or more years behind their grade level. In one year I have had the opportunity to bring them up to their grade level standards.
I currently hold a California Teaching Credential and also have a BCLAD Credential which means: Bilingual Cross-Culltural Language Academic Development. This credential allows me to tutor students in Spanish from middle school through college levels 1-4. It allows me too, to be an excellent ESL/ESOL instructor. I have assisted children as well as adults from many different countries learn to speak, read, and write in English. I do this through interactive activities and fun learning materials.
While completing my Master's Degree, I developed then implemented a study skills afterschool program for students grades 7-12. The program was a huge success. In fact, about a month ago, one of my students told me that he still does the most difficult homework first. This was just one of the many helpful tools I taught within the program.
In all the subjects I tutor, I strongly believe in using colorful hands on manipulatives to teach concepts and the meanings behind the words. I also vary the activities during the lesson to make learning more prevalent and exciting. When learning is meaningful to the learner, more information is retained.
It is my goal to patiently encourage, assist, instruct, and gently guide your child to the academic level that they, and you as parents, desire for them.
With warm regards,
