Hello and thank you for looking at my qualifications and experience! I am a magna-cum-laude graduate of the University of San Diego with a dual-major undergraduate degree in Sociology and Spanish. I studied Spanish for eight straight years throughout high school and college. In addition, I immersed myself in the Spanish culture, language, schooling and day-to-day life in Guadalajara for 6 weeks. I am a fluent speaker, writer and reader of the Spanish language. I have also utilized my skills in the work place, using Spanish on a regular basis. Spanish can prove to be a challenge to learn, whether as a second language or even as a native speaker with grammar and writing.
My most recent Spanish student jumped up 2 grades on the first test that she took after receiving my tutoring help. Through once weekly sessions, she maintained her grade improvement and finished the college Spanish 2 class strongly, which she doubted she could pass before my assistance.
I am also a music tutor, specializing in the oboe. I started my musical journey with the piano, which proved a wonderful basis for my other instruments. I played the oboe for 6 years during school and I received private lessons for approximately 3 years. I played first chair as a freshman in high school and maintained it until graduation. As a high school student I also played with the Mira Costa College wind ensemble. I was offered a scholarship to SDSU to play the oboe. I believe in detailed, patient methods in tutoring. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing how I can assist your studies.
